In the US, around 1 in 6 people suffer from migraine headaches. Migraine headaches vary in intensity and oftentimes, lead to lifestyle challenges that affect day to day function in the patient. Recent advances in migraine treatment include injectable medications like Botox, which blocks migraine-associated neurotransmitters; and mAbs, which block CGRP from sensory nerve terminals. CGRP, a naturally-occuring peptide in the body, causes blood vessels to vasodilate and is found in higher quantities in those suffering with migraines.
A recent study by the American Headache society found that injectables such as Botox is a safe and effective treatment option for chronic migraine patients - with nearly 75% of patients reporting decrease in quantity or severity of headaches per month.
Muscle Spasticity is a condition suffered by over 12 million people worldwide. Characterized by muscle spasm, stiffness, and involuntary contractions, spasticity can be extremely painful. Muscle spasticity is often found in those suffering with a history of stroke recovery, chronic neck and back pain, arthritis and nerve pain, spinal cord injury recovery, and traumatic brain injury. Severe conditions that can also benefit from spasticity injections include Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and ALS to name a few. Historically, treatment would include physical therapy, exercise programs and even surgery.
Current advances such as those administered by Nat’l Medical Rehabilitation can help relieve spasticity symptoms, resulting in less stiffness, increased range of motion, and improved overall function. The injections are given in-office and the effects can last for several months. Treatments are usually repeated every three months.
Dr. David Oria has been at the forefront of migraine headache and muscle spasticity management with interventional techniques, having recently completed his fellowship at MedStar Georgetown/National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC.
Dr. Oria is currently available for consultation on your patients’ options for migraine treatment.

We establish patient care programs and treatments that focus on a non-surgical goal. Our doctors and physical therapists coordinate with your current health providers (primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists) to address your injury and recommend treatment options.
Not all injuries are the same. Not all injuries respond to the same treatments, so every patient has a different treatment plan. Common treatments may include physical therapy, medication management, aquatic exercises and interventional procedures.
Each of these work in different ways to manage your pain and improve your functional ability.
